Celebration of Summer's End

Mr. Pool says that this is probably the last "summer" day of the year. It was in the mid 80's today and will start to consistantly cool down beginning tomorrow.

So I figured we needed to do something... "summer-ish". To the fountain park we headed. We had gone a couple times before this summer. The first time I was surprised to find that Brady really enjoyed himself in the fountains (but I didn't have my camera). The second time we went, he gave me a luke warm reaction to the fountains. So it was hit or miss whether he'd like it today.

Well, at first it was "luke warm"... but then he really got into it! YAY! And I had my camera!

Brady's been telling me lately when something isn't right, doesn't work, or is broken. (for example, "train, broken - fix it" or "hot dog, broken - fix it") He's also been telling me lately that his toys are "sad". Perhaps he's trying to grasp the concept of that emotion since he knows the word now. Well, Brady was telling me that his shoes were sad and at other times they were broken. I think that meant that they were wet and they didn't feel right. Also, when he would put his hand in the fountain at first he would tell me that his hand was broken. (I keep his sandals on because I'm nervous about him stepping on something like glass or something unsanitary...)

"Shoes, sad. Shoes, sad."
Around the perimeter of the fountains there's a continuous drain that goes around and around in different circles. Well, Brady loves to walk around and around following the drain. He did that for a good half hour at least. If someone was standing in his way on the drain, he'd stand still and wait for them to move so he could continue on his path.

around and around and around...
and around and around...
(I love this shot)

Now it's time to REALLY have some fun!

It was a nice afternoon. I had Dylan in the Snugli carrier with a hat on, while I walked around in the fountains near Brady taking pictures.

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy

What a happy little smiley boy! Dylan is 3 1/2 months old now!

Puyallup Fair

Sorry, no pictures again... it was just TOO stressful!

I thought it would be a fun tradition to start with our family - taking a day to enjoy the annual Puyallup Fair. Aparently it's not going to work for us. For some reason Dylan was crying and screaming 90% of the time which is totally uncharacteristic of him. There were a couple times Brady started crying. Don't know if it was him reacting to Dylan or if the crowds were just too much at times.

But Brady sure did enjoy the animals. He saw goats, chicks, chickens, turkens, sheep, horses, bunnies, and ducks! I guess he made a friends with a horse named Lexi. I was off consoling Dylan and trying to feed him, so I don't know the details. I think Brady also enjoyed looking at the few rides he did see, kids roller coaster ("train"), the sling shot ride ("airplane"), the sky tram throughout the park ("hellicopter")... etc...

Food is certainly expensive there. We searched and searched through the crowds to find a reasonable meal with a reasonable wait line - causing more stress. We also searched and searched for a place to sit.

Maybe when they're older... maybe...

Uncle Jim & Aunt Angie

My mom's only sibling, Jim and his wife Ange came into town from Illinois yesterday. My parents and them came for an afternoon and evening at our house to visit and meet the kids. I am sad I didn't get more pictures but I ran out of batteries in my camera. We haven't seen them since our wedding 9 years ago.

The Coz

Well, I guess 4 cats just wasn't enough for the Gray family. Josh brought home a 5th kitty from Portland where his cousin had a litter of kittens. (Well, the cousin didn't... but their cat did!) It's a little boy this time. He is 6 weeks old, very cute and loves his new name... Cosby. All the other cats are taking to him really well. In fact, most of them could care less! A matter of, "been there done that" I suppose.

Brady LOVES him! But Cosby is very frightened by Brady. Brady laughs, squeals and screams in excitement when he sees "Cosme".

(pardon my dry, crusty heel in this photo)
Lexi has taken on the role of mama to Cosby. She did that with Maya as a kitten too.

What else is he doing?

So I took the boys to Fred Meyer tonight. Dylan's carseat in the main part of the cart, and Brady sitting in the front by the handle. Hard to put anything else in the cart when it's filled with little boys.

ANYWAY... Brady would point out things he saw. Whether it be a duck, a pillow, a chicken (all in the decorating aisles), and then milk, bananas etc. in the food aisles. When we'd walk away from what he saw, he'd say... "Bye, bye duck. See ya later!" or "Bye, bye bananas. See ya later!" It was cute!

Brady's ABC's

As I was putting Brady to bed tonight. I turned the lights out and held him & gave him a big hug before putting him down in his crib. He started singing the ABC's to me. Here's how they went...

to the tune of "ABC's":

A-B-C-D-"EEP"-"EP"-G-"duck"-I-J-K-"elmo"-P-....etc...

He sang through the whole thing, and even did the "now I know.." at the end.

WHAT A SWEETHEART! Melt my heart, why don't you Brady!
