Big Boy Bed

It was just a couple days before the new year when I purchased new twin sized bedding for Brady since we had a disassembled bunk bed sitting in our garage for him. I brought it upstairs to his room to see if the new bedding would coordinate with his current decor. When Brady laid eyes on the new blanket he got very excited as I explained that it was for his new big boy bed. I laid it out on his chaise lounge couch to see what it looked like spread out. He assumed that the couch was his bed and immediately climbed under the covers. He was just so excited that he had a big boy bed now... I couldn't take it away from him - and I couldn't put the bunk bed together myself. So... I put sheets on his couch and set up his temporary big boy bed. He loved it! Never fell out or got out of it when he was supposed to be sleeping - or after he woke up for that matter. He always waited till Josh or I came to get him before he'd jump out of bed! It was wonderful!

Well, the day has finally come for Josh to assemble the bunk bed for Brady! It's a large bunk bed crammed into a small room. But Brady absolutely LOVES it! We spent hours before bed playing in there! At bedtime, he crawled under the covers and was ready to sleep in his new bed! Well, it's been about 2 hours and he's still awake IN his bed. Perhaps it's the sugar from the cupcake I gave him after dinner. Perhaps he's just too excited to sleep. Who knows! At least he's still in his bed, and he's not crying. He's just chatting away!

Dylan opening presents at Grandma Bonnie's on Christmas Day

Brady playing with a Christmas present on Christmas eve at our house

Our pathetic snowman :( The snow wouldn't pack!!!

I had to help Brady and had nowhere to put Dylan, so I stuck him in the icy swing!

Happy New Year!

Wow, am I lazy or what?!? It's been well over a month since I last posted on this blog. I'm sorry. Cold Winter Weather = Lazy Bum Kara. I need to seriously get back into the real world and get moving again. I think being stuck at home during all of the snow surely threw me off.

Well, Dylan is now 7 months old and practically crawling. He's pulling himself around the house using his arms with his legs dragging behind. Well, he actually DOES use his legs... just not in the coordinated fashion that goes along with crawling. He's getting into all of Brady's toys. And BOY, does Brady LOVE that! (just kidding) Brady gets upset at Dylan when he grabs one of his toys. And Brady gets upset when Dylan grabs one of DYLAN'S toys. I think Brady thinks that all the toys here are his. We're making progress though. When we remind Brady about being a "nice brother" and sharing... he usually gives Dylan something to play with. But some of Brady's toys are just too small for Dylan. So Brady's allowed to take those toys away from him for safety reasons. But then he doesn't understand why he's not allowed to take other toys from Dylan.

Christmas was great! We were snowed in for about a week. Thankfully, my parents have 4-wheel drive and braved the elements to get to our house on top of the steep hill. So we spent Christmas eve with my family at our house. Then on Christmas day WE braved the elements and slid our way in our NON 4-wheel drive car to Josh's mom's house to spend time with her and Meleah & Chris. We were blessed all around.

New Years eve was uneventful. We put the boys to bed as usual and then I cleaned while Josh worked on his new mp3 player which was totally dysfunctional that night. Then at 11:59 Josh joined me near the tv for the times square ball dropping.

New Years day we went to Josh's Dad's house to celebrate New Years, his 71st Birthday and a belated Christmas (not to mention the bowl games)

Will update with pictures soon!
